Vintage Lighting

Melissa Graef, owner of the Chicken Coop, is an art major and graduate of the University of North Texas, at Denton. She restores antiques, old chandeliers and country primitives. She likes hand-made folk art. She already has an established clientele in dealers from Ft. Smith, Tulsa and Dallas.

“Most new glass,” she said, “is made in China and so thin. Older glass – the kind in older chandeliers – is thicker, has character and better reflects the light. You can tell it was hand blown,” she said.
